I could see the fury in Thorne’s eyes, the kind that mirrored my own. He had a right to be pissed off, but he wasn’t the only one seething

He had it coming

Thad made it clear, hadn’t I? I didn’t want him, not now, not ever. Yet here he was, pushing, as though my words meant nothing. I was done playing nice. Done pretending. It was over, and I was going to make sure he understood that, no matter what it took

I grabbed the hose, yanked the nozzle, and aimed it right at him

Cold water hit his head with a hiss

What the hell?!His voice was a low growl, laced with fury. STOP!”

I dropped the nozzle on the floor and shoved him aside, racing for the door. I didn’t look back. I was leavingfinally getting the hell out of

here

But, before I could even grab the handle, his hand shot out and yanked my shoulder, forcing me to stop

Water dripped from him, his eyes wide, filled with rage and disbelief. He wiped his face with one hand, his fingers trembling with barely contained anger

What the hell is wrong with you?His voice, now.hoarse, was barely above a whisper

thought you knew,I shot back, teeth gritted. You want to play this master and maid game? Fine, I’m the prisoner. I deserve it. It’s my

punishment.”

His jaw tightened. That’s not what I want.”

Well, guess what? It doesn’t matter anymore. Us? We’re done. Finished. End of story. How many times do I have to say it? No matter how much you beg, seduce, or try to force methere’s no going back.”

The room fell into an unsettling silence, the tension thick enough to suffocate

His gaze drilled into me, torn between sadness and anger. I wasn’t sure where those emotions came from. I was the one who was supposed to be angry, the one who had been hurt. But seeing him like this? I didn’t know if it was pity, guilt, or something else, but it made a part of me ache in a way I didn’t want to feel

My wolf stirred uneasily inside me, a soft, mournful whimper echoing in the back of my mind

After a beat, his voice cracked. What if I can’t stand life without you?”

You should’ve thought of that before you betrayed me,” I replied, my voice shaking with restrained emotion

I did it for us!he shot back, desperation creeping in. For a better future!”

A better future?I scoffed. “Oh, right, a better future, power, a shiny throne! Don’t start regretting it now, Thorne. You made your choice. Now deal with the consequences.”

He exhaled slowly, looking like he was going to say something more. But, instead, his words came out cold. I don’t regret it. If I had the chance, I’d do it all over again.”

Iclenched my fists, the anger boiling under my skin. That was the Thorne I knewheartless, cold, determined to get his way at any cost. It was who he was, who he always had been. And that, more than anything, made my heart harden in a way that felt almost too final

His gaze locked with mine, and the intensity was suffocating. Then he broke the tension, asking, Where are you going to sleep tonight?”

I raised an eyebrow. None of your business.”

You’re sleeping here,” he insisted, his voice sharp, but there was something else beneath itsomething I didn’t want to identify

I’ve told you already! I am not sleeping with you,I snapped

No, not with me,he growled. In this room. There’s plenty of space. You can sleep wherever you wantthe bed, the couch, the chair, the flook, the bathtub…

1 studied him, suspicion swirling in my gut. Would he try something again

He seemed to sense my doubt. His eyes darkened, and his voice hardened. I won’t take advantage of you after you’ve just rejected me, alright? I’m not that low.”

Fine,I muttered, finally walking to the couch. I laid down, closing my eyes. Good night.”

I heard his footsteps retreat, the bedroom door shutting with a soft thud. The light switched off

The moon goddess had given me two menone sweet, charming, full of secrets. And the other? Cold, ruthless, and the man who had betrayed me. Yet there was something about the way he looked at me that tugged at something deep inside, something I couldn’t ignore

It was never up to me, though. Fate had its plans. I wasn’t the one calling the shots

Sighing, I closed my eyes

When I woke the next morning, I found myself in bed. Not just any bed, but his bed. The soft blanket draped over me, the room filled with the faint scent of his cologne. What the hell had happened

1 sat up slowly, confusion flooding my brain. I looked around the roomempty

His footsteps echoed in the hallway. I heard the sound of voices, then the smell of coffee reached my nose. I climbed out of bed and made my way into the living room

Thorne sat at the table, sipping his coffee like it was just another morning. The maids scurried around, setting the table and serving breakfast. They froze when they saw me: A brief glanced passed between them, and I instantly knew they had their own ideas about how I ended up in that bed

Well, they weren’t wrong, but they weren’t entirely right either

Thorne looked up, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth. Did you sleep well?”

I pulled out a chair, sat down beside him, and crossed my arms. How did I end up in the bed?I asked in a voice that was low enough for only him to hear

He raised an eyebrow. You sleepwalked into the bedroom. Knocked on the door, too. I had to let you in before you woke up the whole floor.”

Bullshit,I muttered. I don’t sleepwalk.”

Well, you did last night. He shrugged, then changed the subject quickly. Come with me to meet Miela and Lance after breakfast.”

t frowned. Why?”

He tapped his fingers on the table, his expression unreadable. Lance is crowning Miela as his queen.”

I blinked, stunned. Miela? Queen

Lance agreed to this?I asked, barely able to believe it. I thought he wasn’t even that into her.”

Yeah, well, he didn’t have much of a choice,Thorne said with a dark chuckle. Miela climbed onto the roof and threatened to jump if he didn’t make her queen. She used her craziness to get what she wanted, as usual.”

I couldn’t help the bitterness that rose inside me. I looked at him with a sharp edge to my words. How does it feel to know the woman you chose over me is about to marry someone else?”

Thorne’s face hardened. What do you want me to say, Elara? That I’m jealous? Angry?”

You’re damn right I do.I leaned in, meeting his gaze. What’s your plan? Gonna stop the wedding? Maybe barge in, scream I object!like in one of those cheesy soap operas?”

Thorne’s eyes flashed dangerously. He stood up abruptly, grabbing my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes

Stop it,” he warned, his voice low, dark

I looked at him defiantly, my pulse quickening at his touch

First off, I don’t care about Miela. I don’t love her, and I sure as hell don’t give a damn who she marries,he said with a cold smile. But if you marry Dorian?”

His thumb traced the line of my jaw, sending shivers down my spine

I will walk in, gun in hand, and shoot every damn man who stands in my way.”

His words chilled me to the bone. He wasn’t playing

Now, let’s go,he snapped, releasing me from his grip. We’re going to meet them. You’re coming too.”
