After editing her post, Alba shared it across every social media platform. She sat back, pleased, as the comments section filled up with sycophants fawning over her and envying her life.
Just then, she heard a servant announce that Marshall and the others were back. Alba quickly put away her phone and hurried downstairs.
“How did it go? Honey, didn’t you go to see Lucian today?” Avril asked.
Marshall looked dejected. “Don’t even bring it up. That b*stard really turned on us. He gave us the cold shoulder and said we were no longer partners but enemies!
“I can’t imagine what our family did to offend him.”
Avril’s mind worked quickly. “Could it be that someone set us up? Titan Group cutting ties so suddenly is strange. Someone must be jealous of our family and fanned the flames.”
Marshall and Henry immediately grew serious.
“But… who would have enough pull to turn Lucian against us?”
“That’s what we need to find out. And if I learn who it was, I won’t let them off the hook!” Henry clenched his fists.
“Honey, what about right now? Plenty of companies have already stopped working with us.” Avril’s worry deepened. Their family’s situation was precarious.
“Avril, have you forgotten? There’s still the Sharpe family! Our daughter is engaged to their son. If we seal that marriage alliance, it’ll be a huge help to Cirrus Inc.!”
Hope sparked in everyone’s eyes.
Upstairs, Alba overheard and secretly rejoiced. I heard the Sharpe heir is tall and strikingly handsome, named Auster! Way better than that Iverson cripple.
Hmph! Evelyn, you can spend your life with a cripple if you want. I’m going to marry a real catch. When the time comes, I’ll be sure to flaunt it in front of the Gullivers!
“In that case, it’s settled. Contact the Sharpe family right away. Find an opportunity for both families to sit down for a meal, let Alba and their son get to know each other,” Marshall instructed.

At the Gulliver Residence, Evelyn had just returned home and was piecing together the equipment she had brought back.
“Evie, what’s all this?” Penny asked curiously.
“It’s a rehabilitation device. I brought it from the hospital. I’ve already given Dad acupuncture, but he’ll need this machine if he wants to recover faster.”
Penny looked at the contraption Evelyn was assembling. It resembled a robot and clearly looked expensive. “This must have cost a lot of money, right, Evie?”
“It didn’t, Mom. It’s secondhand. A classmate of mine knows about our situation and sponsored me, so I could take it home for free. Don’t worry.”
Only then did Penny relax. “That’s good. Your classmate is so kind. We should invite them over for a meal sometime to show our thanks.” She muttered to herself as she helped Evelyn assemble the machine.
“Alright, let’s bring Dad over.”
Penny’s excitement showed. Her husband was finally about to stand again.
Together, they helped Wyatt up, and Evelyn strapped him into the device.
“Dad, your arms can still move. Use this machine to guide your legs little by little. It won’t take much strength. As long as you train every day, you’ll be walking again soon.”
Following her instructions, Wyatt leaned on the machine and forced his legs to move. Each step was agonizingly slow–almost a full minute for just one step. It exhausted him.
“It’ll be tough in the beginning, Dad, but it’ll get easier. You just have to keep at it.”
“Alright. With such a devoted daughter, I’ll keep going no matter what,” Wyatt said through gritted teeth, and Penny stayed close by to spot him.
“By the way, Evie, what about that Iverson boy? You took him to the hospital for surgery, didn’t you?” Penny asked with concern.
“He’s fine. The surgery was a success.”
“Evie, you’re amazing!”
They were still celebrating Wyatt’s progress when their neighbor, Chuck, suddenly burst in. “Mrs. Gulliver? Mrs. Gulliver! Something terrible happened!”
Penny and Evelyn rushed outside.

“Chuck, what is it?”
“Mrs. Gulliver, it’s bad. Cosmo’s been arrested!”
“What? How could that be?” Penny’s face went pale.
“On the construction site, Callum accused Cosmo of stealing materials and selling them. They fought, and you know how strong Cosmo is–he beat Callum down hard.
“Callum’s in the hospital now, and the police found the stolen goods in Cosmo’s quarters. They took him away!”
Penny staggered back a few steps. “Cosmo! My Cosmo…”
“Mom, don’t panic. I’ll handle this,” Evelyn consoled, catching her.
“You? You’re just a young girl–how can you fix this?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll get him out. First, I need to go to the station and find out what’s going on. I’ll see him there. Trust me.”
