On her first morning waking up in the wealthy Cirrus mansion, Alba thought she was still dreaming. It wasn’t until she pinched herself and felt the pain that she realized it was real.
She went to the walk–in closet, picked out an outfit, then draped herself in all the jewelry Avril and her brothers had given her–every piece she could wear, she put on. She was in love with it
all.
“Miss Alba, would you like lunch?” a servant asked respectfully.
“No, I’ll eat out.” Then, she suddenly remembered something and pointed at the servant with a haughty look. “Tell me–who’s prettier, me or that imposter heiress?”
The servant hesitated before answering, “Y–You, Miss. You’re the most beautiful.”
“Exactly. That’s what I think too. An imposter will always be an imposter. I’m the real deal. And to think she stole 18 years of a life that should’ve been mine, while I suffered in her place, that freaking b*tch!” Alba clenched her teeth, seething with anger.
The servant shrank back, unnerved by her expression. In truth, the servant still thought Evelyn was the more beautiful one–and far kinder.
Miss Evelyn had always been gentle with the staff. But this Miss Alba looks vulgar, and her heart seemed a little twisted, too.
“Alright, tell my mom later I’ve gone out for a bit,” Alba ordered before heading out.
The Cirrus family had assigned her a private chauffeur with a luxury car worth millions.
“Miss Alba, where would you like to go?” the chauffeur asked politely.
“To the Gulliver Residence! I want to see how that imposter’s doing.”
She had finally become the acknowledged heiress, and now she wanted to show off. She
pictured the neighbors who used to look down on her–she couldn’t wait to rub their noses in
- it.
Smirking at the thought, Alba pulled out her phone, snapped a few selfies, and posted them on her various social media accounts.
As expected, she drew instant attention. Former friends gawked at her expensive clothes and luxury ride, unable to believe the transformation. They all messaged her, asking if she had struck it rich. Even classmates she hadn’t spoken to in years started sliding into her inbox.
Alba felt like her life was finally taking off. She was the real heiress!

The car soon arrived at the Gulliver Residence. This time, when she walked into the village, all eyes turned to her.
“Look, isn’t that Alba? She looks gorgeous now–and she’s even got a luxury car picking her up?”
“You didn’t hear? She found her real parents. Turns out the Gullivers raised the wrong child all these years.”
“Her family must be loaded. Just look at that outfit–she’s stunning!”
“I’m jealous. I wish I were a long–lost daughter of some wealthy family too.”
Under the neighbors‘ envious stares, Alba made her way to the Gulliver Residence.
Penny’s eyes lit up when she saw Alba arrive. She thought Alba must have come back out of affection for her foster parents. “Alba, have you come to see us?” Penny’s eyes grew misty.
“Of course not! I’m here to see that imposter. She stole my place for so many years, after all. Now that she’s stuck in this shabby family, I want to see how she’s faring! Hahaha!” Alba sneered.
Penny never imagined the girl she had raised could sound so vicious.
Just then, Evelyn came out of the pigsty. She had been feeding the pigs in Penny’s place since Penny’s back wasn’t strong enough.
When Alba saw Evelyn carrying the bucket, she pinched her nose dramatically. “Ugh, the stench! Absolutely revolting! A lowborn wench will always be lowborn, only fit for filthy chores like this.”
“Alba Gulliver, how can you say that? Haven’t you fed pigs before yourself?” Penny rushed to defend Evelyn. She couldn’t understand why Alba had turned so cruel.
But Alba shouted harshly, “Don’t call me Alba Gulliver. That name disgusts me! I’m a Cirrus, not your daughter! That unlucky wretch is your daughter!”
“You… You…” Penny trembled with fury.
Evelyn, however, kept her composure. She calmly reached into the bucket, scooped up a handful of leftover slop, and flung it straight at Alba’s face.
“Ahhh!” Alba shrieked. The pig feed was boiled from scraps no one wanted, food fit only for pigs–and it had been thrown right onto her precious, noble face.

“Evelyn, you lowly thing! How dare you throw slop at me! I’m the real heiress, and you’re the imposter!”
Evelyn’s voice was cool. “You’d better leave quickly then, or I’ll throw you into the pigsty next.”
“You wouldn’t dare! Who do you think you are? My family has wealth and power. You’re no match for me. Oh, and I forgot to tell you–you even have a fiance! Hahaha!” Alba burst out laughing.
Fiance? Evelyn looked at Penny in confusion.
Penny lowered her head, unable to meet her gaze, guilt plain on her face.
“She won’t tell you, so I will. Your fiance lives at the edge of the village. Go see him yourself. Evelyn, that’s fate. My old fiance is yours now, while my fiance belongs to you!” Alba smirked.
The Cirrus family had arranged a marriage for her before. But now that the daughters had been switched back, that engagement no longer applied. Evelyn never expected that the Gullivers had arranged a marriage for her, too.
“Ha! A house full of paupers. I’m going back to enjoy my life of luxury. You can all rot in poverty forever!” Alba tossed out her final insult and turned to leave.
Evelyn couldn’t be bothered with such trash. What she wanted now was to understand what this so–called engagement was about.
“Evie, don’t blame me,” Penny apologized, her voice heavy with guilt. “This marriage… we had no choice. Years ago, the powerful Iverson family came to us, saying they wanted a betrothal.
“They chose our fourth child—at the time, that meant Alba. We knew the man was disabled, worse off than your father, paralyzed and bedridden for years. He’d even been abandoned in this village. Of course, we refused, but they offered us money. Your father’s illness was worsening, and we desperately needed it, so we agreed.
“Looking back, I know it was wrong. No wonder Alba resented us. But we were too poor to say no–and the Iverson family was far too powerful to offend. Now Alba has left, so naturally the marriage falls to you. They said once you turn 18, the wedding will take place. And this year… you’re turning 18. We’ve been worried sick about it.”
Evelyn sighed. So, the Gullivers have troubles of their own. Looks like I’ll have to meet this so–called fiance sometime soon.
