In fact, my meeting with Nicholas was totally by chance.
About a year ago, the film crew just left me hanging on a deserted island.
I accidentally broke into Richard’s place, and that crazy guy really put me through the wringer.
After
After finally getting away from his villa, I couldn’t find any way to leave the island by boat.
Then out of nowhere, a cruise ship appeared from across the water.
I yelled for help and got pulled onto the ship.
He took off his coat and wrapped it around me. Then he said in this cool, calm voice, “Are you okay? I’m Nicholas.”
When our eyes met, I introduced myself too.
After drifting at sea for a day and a night, he felt like my only lifeline.
After I got back to New York, it felt like everyone was talking about me, but the only one really freaking out was my agent.
People were saying I must’ve kicked the bucket on the island.
Even my dad, Henry Hachett, went all out and threw a funeral for me.
Looking at those crazy photos in the news, I couldn’t help but laugh until tears rolled down my cheeks.
If that was how they wanted to play it, I would just pretend I was dead.

Starting fresh, there was no way I was letting anyone walk all over me or insult me ever again.
I called up my agent and asked her to set up a press conference.
And as for that shady film crew who had left me hanging on the island? I was definitely suing them big time.
Before long, the producer showed up because of all the buzz.
He pretended to apologize, but it was just another attempt to threaten me.
He said I had no clout in the entertainment industry and if I sued them now, nobody would ever hire me again.
I was speechless. Doesn’t a second–tier actress’s life count for anything?
After I vented my frustrations, the producer still refused to apologize.
He even flipped it on me, saying that I was the one who delayed the production schedule.
Just when things were getting super awkward, Nicholas walked in.
When everyone stepped aside to bow and greet him, it hit me that he was the investor for this film.
I wasn’t sure if I should just let it go out of gratitude for him saving my life, but he spoke up first and offered some compensation.
His kind words totally cooled down my anger in just a few sentences.
Before long, he moved in next door to me.
Every so often, he’d drop by with excuses–borrowing shampoo, a blow dryer, whatever came to mind.

Otherwise, he’d say he cooked too much food and wanted to share some with me.
At first, I was really resistant. There should be some boundaries between guys and girls. Plus, dealing with people from the capitalist world was never a walk in the park.
But honestly, I couldn’t ignore how amazing his cooking was. After just one bite, I found myself wanting more.
As I spent time with him, it hit me that he was nothing like any of the guys I’d dated before.
Every little thing he did had this classy vibe, and most importantly, he looked like he walked straight out of a magazine.
With him being my “savior” on top of that, it didn’t take long for me to appreciate how thoughtful he really was.
That night, Nicholas asked me to join him for a dinner party. When it wrapped up, he quietly asked me if I would be his girlfriend.
After going through three rough breakups already, the thought of being someone’s backup or second choice freaked me out.
So after politely turning him down, I decided to throw all my energy into filming instead.
Nicholas, who was just as busy, would swing by the set whenever he
could.
Luckily, things went my way. I wrapped up my first lead role in a drama successfully.
When the show aired, I became an instant hit and quickly shot up to being one of those A–list actresses everyone wanted to work with in the industry.

At that awards ceremony back then, a lot of people thought I got there just by leaning on guys. Some crazy fans of other celebrities even started throwing stuff at me.
I felt so awkward and embarrassed that all I wanted to do was snap back at them. But right then, Nicholas pulled me into his arms and protected me from all that nonsense.
